I went to synthetic culture on friday night, great venue, the egg near kings cross. Met katy who'd come down from wales for the weekend. She was meeting daniel, who was nice (seemed a bit wet and girly but hey wink and all was fun. Saturday was begun at around 2pm and Adam and andrea came to visit for the first time in months. Very chilled, slightly sunburnt afternoon with the evening marching on toward Slimelight where some bands were playing (?) I missed 'Killing Miranda', well, wouldn't say missed but either way I was too late for there set. The band I was really there to see 'Riko' I think were having trouble with their laptop which contained all their samples. D'oh damn modern technology and electronic music. But they played and I thoroughly enjoyed it, Aparently The first album is better than the second.
Sunday rolled forth with a painful 3pm awakening, both katy and elin had gone out and bought the new Harry Potter. So the house was pretty qiuet for a few hours with only the sound of rustleing pages. I'd promised to go to Fei's birthday sunday afternoon so I rounded up the house, elin, katy and Ian (her other bloke, much more talkative, much more fun,) and headed to the eagle pub on city road. (Trivia note: the eagle is immortalised in the nursery rythme 'pop goes the weasel')

So, ate cake, hugged Fei (who is not a suicide girl, because of her work with 'shark infested waters') and knew at least 4 people out of the group. then ended up on the 'what's polyamory' table (don't know how but I looked around and saw everyone else stuck on the 'is there a god' table so I stayed on the free sex table instead.)

Had a really good discussion with fei's friends who all knew what I was going on about AND had thoroughly unique valid perspectives. It was alot of fun with one girl who didn't think she would be poly but wanted to know more, her bloke who does believe in poly but gave up to go out with her, another guy who HAS tried everything and just is monogamous but understands that it works for some people. And what really got me was the lady with a young baby who was the strongest advocate of a new modern relationship manifesto that defies the stereotype of social constraints that have conditioned us to think that monogamy is the only way. Stemming from the horrific ideal of 1950's nuclear family, much evil has been rought over our society. Mostly in the form Romantic comedies but that alone could be the downfall of our quest for socio/political evolution and we'll all be relegated to the de-evolved inbread retards on jerry springer that can't understand why they keep destroying there own chances for finding a better existence.

whoa, ok even I've lost my place now. Often hard to condense 5 hours of conversation into a journal entry. I should probably do some work now.

bye.
