I'm in a very pop culture friendly space right now, I think it's an after effect of the election. My mind seems to be constantly drifting to music, horror movies, and superpowers. Oh, and classic Bond movie moments. Gotta leave room for Bond.
Oh, need a pair of quality noise canceling headphones - damn earbuds are killing... Read More
...... Well, political stuff is much more important than halloween anyway. If it makes you feel any better, while we were out trick or treating i noticed a surprising amount of Obama signs (one woman even came to the door wearing an Obama shirt) at the rich neighborhood we were in, and i KNOW i didn't see Kerry signs last time we were trick or treating there. I was surprised. I know Oklahoma's a red state and mccain will win here but i think for the first time in a long time it will be by a very small margin. As far as the entire country goes, i think Obama is winning by much larger number than they are reporting on the news.
Well Carson City (which now prefers to be called "Carson", apparently) is not exactly Vegas, but it was a pleasant place nonetheless. And even those who clearly wanted me to get lost were fairly polite, in that gentle Western brush off sort of way. But I'll say this: my personal experience matches the conventional wisdom, Obama supporters are a lot more excited to vote than... Read More
I'm a software tester. I tend to keep my life separate from my SG existence, but the basics are these: I took voluntary redundancy in June 07, studied for a year (completed my bachelor's degree), and now I have a job in testing in the aviation sector. Which is nice, because I have a long-standing interest in anything that flies - dragonflies, birds, bats, aircraft, spacecraft... So it looks like a win on several levels.
You know, I used to laugh at those cheesy commercials advising people to buy gold to hedge against bad times. They looksed so stodgy and old and well, the ads were sort of cheap and threadbare. The whole thing supported my conventional assumptions - that precious metals are an archaic form of wealth, better used in jewelry or electronics than sitting in ingots in your... Read More

That's the first rocket ever to be launched in orbit by private individuals, and they did it for a fraction of the cost it takes NASA to launch something similar. Someday, these guys may really open up space to the... Read More
I don't know what's worse... that Peter, future Peter and Sylar are all stupid powerful or that the writers only ever show them using one or two of their abilities and then only when it's convenient to the plot.
Of course, that doesn't even touch upon the fact that EVERYONE has quickly become too dumb or too evil to be the least bit likable.
So everybody's panicked, the financial system is on the verge of meltdown, and come end of last week, word comes that the Administration and Secretary Paulson has a plan. The markets rejoice. We are Saved.
Then comes Monday morning, and people start saying, uh, wait a sec. Of particular note is this little gem, tucked away in the ironically titled Section Eight of the bill:... Read More
And yes, stupid jinx. I hate it.
