Well I guess I can't complain any longer about how robotics researchers can't get one to walk. Behold,
BigDog.

Observations:

1) I think it actually walks more like a mule than a dog (and wouldn't Mule be a more accurate name, anyway?)

2) On the one hand, it would be significantly less creepy if it had a head. On the other hand, a head would be vulnerable.

3) Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use a real mule?

4) A gas engine? Seriously?

Taliban 1: "Hey, what's that incredibly loud whining drone?"

Taliban 2: "I dunno, sounds like a lawnmower."

Taliban 1: "Mowing what? This is the Hindu Kush! I think it's an a American death robot."

Taliban 2: "That's ridiculous. Probably one of those gas-powered mini-scooters."

Taliban 1: "Oh. Yeah, that's probably OHMYFUCKINGGOD!"
