You know, apple-tinis are silly. And evil. Espceially when they come in pitchers.

No, I am not dead. But as you may have guessed, this new job is fucking intense. I'm glad to have it, mind you, but jeez...

Got a pretty nice offer from the company I interviewed with on Wednesday.

Tonight, we drink, and smoke, and watch other people dance!

Just don't tattoo it on your ass.

Oh wait, I guess you got a job.

Heh, no need!

good for you

Had a five hour job interview today. No, I'm not kidding. I spoke with every person who works there, it seems. Did well I think, but it was fairly stressful, like being interrogated. Got home and crashed (damn, I am on such a shitty sleep schedule), now I am wide awake and will be all night.

Keep your fingers crossed. (We need money to support...

My last job interview was like three hours....and I won't find out if I'm in serious consideration for the job for weeks and weeks. The other folks who make the decision are on vacation.....uh, great.
llouys:
see, what you need to do is, tattoo your resume on your arm.

it's all about eyeballs.

Just got back from Comic Con in San Diego. I know, I know, irresponsible of me to go off to a comic book convention while I am unemployed, Well, as it happens the vacation was already paid for (i.e., non refundable), so we figured why not? Much fun was had. I hope to post some pics later on.

alienprincess:
conventions are awesome. I've been to loads of sci-fi cons one horror con, but never any comic cons.glad you had fun.
last con I went to sucked, but I think that was more a function of what con it was-- the hotel was a 30-40 min ride from the convention site. did I mention the bazaar directions? anyway... I've never felt old at a con before.... it was strange. Its been like ten years since I regularly went to cons. (my dad used to take me with him.)
I'm trying not to be too disapointed about that one. It's harder when you're spending your own $$ the reason why I've only been to 2 cons in the last decade....
anyway....

Well, today is my last day at work. Predictably, it didn't seem quite real until I cleaned out my desk the other night.

The good news is, I already have some bites on my resume. The bad news is, they are all short term contracts.

Wish me luck.
kay:
Good luck.

Well, you take the good with the bad... while I will be out of a job in a few weeks, my parents are giving me their Rather Large TV (to make room for their new Even Larger TV.) Which is nice, since I've been squinting at an ancient 13" screen for the past year or so.

Went to BFD at the Shoreline on Friday. I felt somewhat guilty about spending money what with my impending layoff, but it was good therapy. Saw Dizzy Rascal, The Streets, Violent Femmes, and the Beastie Boys, among others.

It's a surreal experience coming to work now, knowing the office is going to be closed down in a few weeks. Everybody is sleepwalking through their jobs,...

All i ever took was a golfball with the company logo.

Of course, the money I saved in therapy by throwing it at a wall was well spent.

Got layed off from my job today. blackeyed

Uncertainty sucks of course, but it may be a blessing in disguise: the new owners are basically doing a slash and burn, and in the process they have canned most of the people who know what they are doing. As incompetant as the new owners are, I don't know if I would want to work for them.

wtf?

I'm sure there's a rational, mathematical explanation for this. But I don't know what it is.
redheadedleague:
Ah. Cool:

"Let the first digit of your number be A, and the second be B. Then your original number is (10*A+B), the sum of the digits is A+B, and the subtraction gives

(10*A)+B-(A+B) = 9*A

which shows that the second digit doesn't matter, and the final result will always be a multiple of 9. All the multiples of 9 have the same symbol on the chart."
llouys:
It's clever that htey're smart enough to change the chart when you repeat it, but if they were *really* clever, they'd change the order that the symbols appear in every time you reload.

But yeah, neat.

Good weekend. Met some friends I haven't seen in a while down in San Jose, including one guy who is one of my best friends. He lives in Florida now (not by choice!) but his co-workers arranged for him to fly out for some "training" and basically conned the company into letting him show up four days early.

So we drank too much, watched bad...
