Okay, so I'm not really that sick. So maybe my brain was just begging my body for an excuse to stay home from work. And maybe I just happened not to bring home my work laptop last night. But I have lots of important things to do.

Like wrestling with dogs.

And playing video games.

This is therapy, people.

Sicko, wanting to take my anthro test. heheh. actually, i'm not that intimidated by it, im pretty confident about the material and i love the class. it's just sooooo much stuff, i have to answer essay questions about each one of those instead of just doing multiple choice because im taking the test early frown my brain hurts.

Sleep deprivation has once again reared it's ugly, grumpy, bloodshot face. I can't pin it to one correctable factor: it's work, it's my life outside of work, it's my future, it's taxes owed, it's the lack of productive writing recently, it's the white trash couple that stays up till 1 AM screaming at each other, it's the creaking boards in the bedroom above me, where...

Kittybutt!

I'm glad you get irrationally attached to inanimate objects. I believe it's a symptom of a creative mind. What's your most attached to inanimate object?

Sci-fi, math humor, and great sex. And nothing complicated...

Well, I knew that last part couldn't last. Eh.

No, the complication part. The rest is great, thanks very much.

Personally I give that one to jetskis. Very few car alarms do much actual harm, after all.

And now... geek poetry.

--------------------------------

Far across a vault of trackless vacuum
Over a hundred million years ago
Hydrogen did a dying star consume
To multiply its fierce resplendent glow

Countless offspring were born in that plasma
The nuclei were left trapped deep within
But photons broke free of the miasma
Flew true and pierced the red coronal skin

As sprites of light they crossed...

Dude, I'm 15 in that picture. Perv.

XKCD is so good, and that comic describes a lot of my sense of humor.

Did you see this one?

After calling Greta a "dog salad sandwich" the other day, I have realized that the theorem is also true for pups.

BWAHAHHAHAHAA that's a funneee video. It made me laugh. <giggle>

This was a weekend of Wondercon, of geekery and Chinese parades and Mutts and mimosas and and new girlfriends and several fine varieties of French toast. And believe it or not, a blue sky. In San Francisco.

In March yet. Who knew?

Sounds like a great weekend. I had to come to SF on Saturday morning for an exam, but then I got to hang out in Yerba Buena Gardens that afternoon....soooo nice. Hopefully the weather will hold through this coming weekend too.

Stressful preparations, a clear but unvocalized expectation over the phone, and the smell of blooming plant genitalia... must be Valentine's Day.

Thank you for your well wishes. I'm in rough shaoe, but I think I've been partially numbed to all the pain and loss due to everything I've been going through the laast several months. It hurts, but I have a slew of friends and family rallying around me. I'll get through it okay.
sockpuppet:
Thanks for the thought smile

This morning she said, "At the DNA, about five minutes after I met you, I wanted to grab you and kiss you. I thought that was a good sign.'"

Yes it was.

And a certain irony, as well. Or perhaps just a talent for measured understatement. Either way, sounds like a good one smile

Re economics: seems little point, somehow. I don't think they do human stuff.
heracleitus:
That's awesome.

Last time I had a moment like that, I had spent hours talking to film project partner. As I was getting out of her car, she asked me while I was looking at her funny.

I said, "I didn't want to say anything because I'm sure it will just make things awkward in the end, but I really like you."

She said, "It won't be awkward. I've wanted you to kiss me for the past two hours."

I'll let you imagine how awkward it was after I made our film about the ten days she avoided me (including skipping class) before telling me it wasn't going to work out.

Walking home late the other night, I had this weird, urban Lewis Carroll moment. This is what came out of it:

-------------------------------------------------

The red-eyed clock reads half past one
I slip away and out the door
Without a word for I have none
Worth waking sleeping strangers for
No, better that I disappear.

I find my way down creaking stairs
Onto the cold and narrow...
