i was indirectly responsible for the death of an adorable finch named hermes. possiblity 1 is that she died of sickness--we had separated her from her mate because she wasn't acting well--and possibility 2 is that one of my cats got her. i feel dumb because i even thought "wow they didn't bother her all night, she should be fine until spott gets home from dropping me off at work". i was wrong...

work was weird today. nothing to do but bug the machine service people whose tech didn't show up until 7.5 hours after i originally called for him... stupid man. i needed that machine!
then i had to have a chat with one of my underlings. he left me a list of "orders" the other day, and i wanted to make sure he didn't do that again. i put it to him gently. he apologized, and agreed to keep his messages consciously polite from now on.

then i visited petco to stare at the rodents that are under quarrantine because some small animals from the same distributor became very ill and died... so they are all currently "not for sale", especially the hamster that just had babies.
there was a gorgeous dark calico cat up for adoption with one brown eye and one yellow. she was awesome.

then i went to weggies, had some caffeine & read most of a newspaper. after a while, nemesis wandered over and sat down at my table. i bought myself a newspaper (i had been reading the cafe copy), and we came home.

our dinner date cancelled on us at the last minute. bastard. oh well, at least i have time to do laundry now!
