waterfall diving dream

standing on the rocks with
the water on the brink
one last breath 'fore the jump
and a smile 'fore i sink
to my hands and my knees
to crawl back to the shore
with the big blue sky ahead
that one i long for
the brown of the rocks
underneath that hard flow
the white of the spray
blowing in a rainbow
the drop from this heaven
into that green pool
could break my whole person
could make me the fool
so i stand on the rocks
with the water on the brink
and for just one moment
i pause and i think
with my loves standing
to my side and behind
and the newest i'd love
to dive down to find
so for the promise i made
to my rock and my heart
i fall to my hands
and my knees to depart
with a sigh and a smile
i see what i must leave
with freedom and fancy
i realize what i crave
and let go the stone
that holds me above
for the best and the last
it must be my love
