today i got to sleep until 7:30. an unexpected luxury after an entire night of nightmares. i work at 9. spott works at 9:30. so instead of getting to work at the crack of dawn and sitting around for a while, i get to sit around after my day is done. sometimes, that is fun and satisfying, sitting in the break room, watching TV or reading a book, not doing anything of importance, and somebody else out there struggling to do what i do with barely a thought. i know it sounds vindictive, but i keep asking to train people, so as one of my old friends used to say "they get what they get".
i was finally allowed to train ONE floor person how to make a calendar (which has many steps but none particularly difficult, and is therefore slightly complex). today hopefully i can train one of the floor supervisors to make a calendar--he has an order in that he wants to make, but neither of us has really had the time so far. and it helps that if he's training making it, it's free.
i'm fairly certain that it finally occurred to my boss how badly we need to train people for my department when he and his district manager spoke about posting my job on monster in january. i'm guessing that is also when he realized that january is just a couple weeks away, and we're also losing teapot (spott's sis) the beginning of january. unless we hire someone between now and then, it will officially be me, and only me, that covers the approximately 80 hours of shifts. awesome. my memorial service is to be held....
ok it is really time for me to get ready and go to work. when i come home, i am going to dig out photos to scan for a present for my mom
. perhaps i won't die at work TODAY.
