The other night leaving the martial arts school, I decided that I would try to find a coffee shop that is on this list for a "tour" of small coffee shops in my area. If I visit all of the coffee shops and get my free drink I have the chance to win a prize (Partay
). Anyways, it was dark and it was in New Berlin which is an area of town I'm not too familiar with and I got lost, big time. I made the mistake of taking some diagonal streets (which are old cow paths so I'm told) and ended up at one point seeing a farmer plowing his field in the middle of the night (I evidently went beyond New Berlin). That is how lost I was.
To tell the truth, I really didn't mind being lost so much; it was kind of fun in a way because I didn't need desperately to be anywhere at that time, I had just filled my gas tank, and I was listening to a new cd I picked up of Joanna Newsom. I just kind of took turns on a whim and drove.
A few times on the journey I had a tinge of doubt (how long am I going to be out here, am I going in circles? Will I have to sleep in my car tonight?) and being a man I can't stop for directions. That would be too easy and anyways, I'm far from civilization. I made a turn on the most wooded country looking road I had encountered and followed that a few miles and miraculously ended up crossing a road I recognized that I was able to take straight home. Strange huh?
Moral of the story, never let me navigate (heh heh) and if ever you find yourself lost, sometimes relaxing and going with the flow will get you where you need to go just as easily.
By the way, I never found the coffee shop though I probably passed it along the way. I will try again during the day this time.

Someone leaked one of my private journal entries to her which is part of why our relationship is now ruined. I'm not sure how to cope with that.
