Today I return to the lab. Dun dun daaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!! I wish I didn't have to return to reality so soon but alas, that's the way the world works. Bummer.
The nice thing is that I basically can make my own hours with this work, and I've got an idea as to how I will approach the work. Every day I will have a plan on what I will do that day that will bring the group ahead towards publications, and stick to it as best I can. Prof. R. is the boss but if he ends up asking me to do some piddly busy not technical work, I can use my daily itemized "To do list" to say, "Well, I can do that but I had planned to work on this. What priority would you like me to assign that?" More than likely he will just ask someone else. I have to do this, as he micromanages like a champ and it makes it difficult to get anything accomplished.
Today I plan to fiddle with the microscope and learn the little tricks one can do with the image analysis software. I also plan on leaving early. Wish me luck.
