My brother is getting married, I am the best man. I find now that I am being pressured by family members to find a girlfriend or a date for his wedding.

I have been without a steady girlfriend for 5 years, and I could give a number of reasons why but mainly it is because I am shy in social situations and I don't know where to meet people really except for bars. My last girlfriend I met by chance, I wasn't looking for anyone but we started talking in a Laundromat in the dorm. We met again a few times by chance at some activities surrounding some tibetan budhist monks who had come to demonstrate throat singing, sand mandala art and traditional ceremonial dance and music and we hit it off.

That was a little different of course than going to an event like that in Milwaukee, because this was in Winona which is a relatively small town and people have a different outlook and openess to others there. Here, when walking down the street people tend to ignore others and not make eye contact. I guess I should try harder but I don't really know where to start.
