today was a long day but it was rewarding in the end....because....
I won an AWARD!!! wooot woooot. tonight was the awards ceremony for art ant art history students at my school aka. moi. we had a pot luck dinner, guest speakers, and artists and awards....
gaaa....sooooooo much food. three kinds of lasagna, lots of weird yet yummy vegetarian dishes (what can you expect from artists), fruits, veggies, crackers, like 30 kinds of dip, chicken, perogies, samosas, bread, lunch meats, salads galore, punch, pop, juice etc.....oh my. and then deserts, deserts and more deserts. (i like food to much no wonder i'm getting fat lol...i just wrote an entire paragraph about the smorgasboard)
the awards part of the evening was great. it wasn't painful to sit through like in high school. it was actually fun and insightful. lots of the awards are donated by alumni as well as organizations and galleries in the area. it was nice to see all of my fellow students in a setting other than in class and everyone was in such a good mood. it was great to be there to support and to cheer on my classmates as well as the fact that i received an award myself. i got one the faculty assigned award for "outstanding achievement in painting".
word up.
i'm gonna go have some wine. then pass out.
i haev to be up early tomorrow. i'm teaching a workshop to 15 high school students about how to do encaustic. should be fun. but i'm a little nervous. wish me luck.
