Well, I've had about the worst two days possible. It turns out the assistant manager (who I love and adore) is moving to Johnstown. I'm very upset about this because she has a controlling, asshole husband. But I thought some good could come of this because I could get a promotion seeing as how I am the senior memebr of the team I work with. Oh, how wrong I was. My manager is hiring her best friend, who doesn't even work for the company, instead of me. Her reasons are that I'm still in school (two mornings a week) and that I'm moving (in a year and a half). Does this sound fair or right to anyone? Cause really, I'd like to not feel so pissed off and betrayed about this and, if anyone can tell me why those are good reasons not to promote me, I'd love to hear them.

They sound like bad "excuses" if you ask me. She wanted her friend and thats it. Anything else is a flimsy rationalization.

My career exploration course you asked about is for those not so rare breed of people with mental health issues. They can be severe or mild. In my case (ADD + depression). Its a fuggin awsome program though. It's free. They do a good amount of testing to see what you are best suited for, combined with intrest testing to see, well, what you're intrested in doing, combined with personality testing to see what kinds of work environments you thrive in. They combine all the testing and give you some ideas. As well they give LOTS of support in how to get that career.

Not for everyone. But for some (like me) it's a godsend.

Hope you're feeling less jilted. Maybe it was for the best you didn't get it. Maybe that path would have led to somewhere you wouldn't want to be in the future.
Sorry... My optimistic sence-abilities are on overdrive these days.
