headed to france for a week tomorrow. i'm leaving from DC, so i'm scooting outta NYC tonight to avoid any delays associated with all of GWB's devil children that are popping up all over the place thanks to the RNC. i really wanted to take part in the protests this week, but i'll have to sit it out, i guess.
i'm headed to Meximieux, Lyon, then Paris. 60 years ago, my grandfather liberated Meximieux from the Nazis in some crazy tank battle. He became the town hero. they renamed the town square after him and shit like that. every 10 years, they have a parade & ceremony in his honor, so it's going to be an interesting trip. after that i'll just sightsee for a few days. a much needed vacation. besides, i haven't been to france in years.
