i saw some silly bullshit around the corner from where i work. letterman had rage/soungarden blah on top of his sign on 53rd & broadway....a big fat whatever. forgive me for being redundant or stupid (because i just realized while typing this that fucking everyone who watches tv will have seen it already....) but i don't watch tv or listen to radio so i am completely in the dark if this is like the new thing.
anyway, it was silly. there were 50 policemen on the street, being all hardcore about keeping the peace like this was going to be a friggin riot or something while all these peple lined up with their gap khakis, nodding their head to the booming beats of simulated angst. they played their stuff, and it was underwhelming to find that "audioslave" sounded EXACTLY AS YOU WOULD EXPECT THEM TO...you know? nothing really there. cornell i think was singing the exact same melody & words that he sang like 14 years ago on ULTRAMEGA OK (now you can tell i'm way too old)
i guess that's the schtick...they are, in fact, audio slaves.
oh well, i missed the boat again on what's supposed to be cool, and it honestly makes me feel like i'm missing something...missing that crazy enzyme, element, vitamin, mineral, or drug that makes shit like this so palatable to everybody else.
so i went and had a few drinks on the job and i felt fuzzy and basically, better i guess.

yeah, i'm not too impressed with them either. soundgarden's songs i either loved or hated, but i loved rage (i know i'm gonna get lots of shit for that...oh well). but 'AUDIOSLAVE'... wtf?!?! what brain-dead idiot came up with that name? did they look through the 'nu-metal encyclopedia of shitty band names'? at least they didn't give it some cute misspelling, like 'limp bizkit' or 'staind' or whatever
