it was freezing today. i woke up and went to fairway market at 125th street in harlem, they have 15 different kinds of olives to choose from in these big vats of olive oil. my favorites are the luques olives, and i always get a big container of them. then i wandered around the place; it's so huge. there's a meat locker there that's 15 times the size of my apartment, packed with all kinds of dead animals. they have jackets that you put on before you go shopping inside; once in, the place is bustling with faceless, formless, black, hooded bodies pushing shopping carts, steaming exhales from under the hoods. don't take your vegan friends there.
if you want to show your fresh-off-the-boat cuban lover what capitalism is all about, take them to fairway - they won't believe their eyes. i don't see how it's possible that all the piles of food there actually get consumed before they spoil. what a waste. i paid for my olives and stepped outside, freezing my dick off. i should have snatched one of their meat locker jackets, i thought.
