So sailing season has kicked in and the winds have been high so far. This weekend we didn't feel safe taking the students out in a small boat advisory on Saturday. We did take them out yesterday though and part of me wishes we didn't even though the conditions were fine if heavy. One boat capsized another got dismasted. Everyone was fine, but the capsized boat would have been even better (read: not dismasted) if the responding harbor policeman knew what he was doing. Seriously, they rotate police officers through the harbor unit and while most of the officers are nice guys, only a few of them have any boating let alone sailboat experience. This guy was one and managed, in spite of our instructors and waterfront manager being present and trying to gently let him know what was needed, to make things even less safe. Oh and he fell in the water too. INCOMPETENT. So we had a little excitement and none of the students were hurt and all are looking forward to coming back so we're okay.

I won't go into more detail because I know I'll just get pissed off. I'm already pissed that the parent organization for our community sailing org is headed up by a liar. Yes, that's right a proven liar. Again, I won't go into details because I'm actively furious and am only holding my tongue until our leadership can figure out a way of dealing with him. It's truly disgusting the amount of lying, stealing, embezzlement that he's committed. Unfortunately if we do anything drastic we could end up having to shut down since they own all of our assets. It's a fucked up situation created over years by a selfish prick with no concerns other than his own standing and success. At this point we have enough evidence to destroy him, but we have to figure out a way to do so without ruining our chances of survival.

Ah well. Happy hour tonight (yes on Monday!) and I just found out my job is extended another month. So hopefully I'll be able to find a new one before the end.
