I had a post all worked out. I wonder where that went...
I vaguely recally that it involved my shame at, having referred to myself as a hobbyist in the area of religious history, and having once been a pretty devout Christian, I got something as simple as the Lord's prayer mixed up with the 23rd Psalm. Of course, the fact that most of my Christian friends don't actually know which Psalm the 23rd is made me feel a little better about the whole deal.
Funny thing, about religion, it seems like it should be easier to get into. It requires a great deal, it would seem, in order to establish a religion and keep it thriving after you've passed on. Thus far, I remain the only member of my cult, which, I suppose is just as well, when I review the recruitment standards that existed at one incarnation or another of the whole thing, how at first I didn't really regard recruitment as very important, then, how when it reached it's first active stage, it suddenly seemed vital. Now that I'm reaching a new phase in the whole concept, and taking more aspects of the lattice into consideration, it's becoming harder again to really try to give people the message of something that's so organic and frequently expanding.
If anyone reads this that has effectively started their own religion and has an actual base and followers, please lt me know how you managed. I can think of a few ways that could immediately boost recruitment, but it violates some of the primary principles of the whole thing, so I need a new way of thinking about that whole aspect, I think. skull robot puke
