"Do you have anything to declare?"

"Yeah, don't go to Philly."

So yeah, I've just returned from a family trip to Pennsylvania. I usually try to beg off going places, but this time I had to; it was for my uncle's wedding. The wedding itself was in a small town called Forty-Fort on Saturday. We spent the whole week leading up to that playing tourist. We visited the Liberty Bell, Independece Hall, Gettysburg, Fort McHenry, Camden Yards (Orioles won!), and Valley Forge.

For the record, I hate weddings, especially big flashy ones. This was your typical Catholic church wedding: pomp, ceremony, and a huge reception/after party. All of this served to reinforce my idea that when/if I ever get married, it's gonna be at the Chapel o' Love in Vegas. What matters is the commitment you're making, right? All that flash is just waste.

Not that I'm against having a party afterwards, though. It's just that the party for the family/friends is gonna happen after the wedding and honeymoon and after we move into our own digs.

So, all of that aside, I must explain what I misquoted above. In my life, I've been to five major cities, and here's how I rank them:

1. Los Angeles --> My hometown Maybe I'm biased, but I just like LA.
2. Buenos Aires --> Awesome city. I was there when I was younger and knew Spanish.
3. Baltimore --> Baltimore rocks.
4. Philadelphia --> Ugh, this city disgusts me. The layout of the roads is murder. Left turn lanes where making left turns is illegal. That sort of shit.
5. San Francisco --> The pinnacle of shitty cities. The whole place stunk. I'm not just saying it smelled bad, either. I'm talking about a thick, cloying stench of decay and filth that clings to your skin and throat. Oh, and traffic is horrible there. Worse than Philly: we were even unable to park. No parking garages, nothing. If I ever rule the world, I'm going to level Paris (just on principle) and San Francisco. For those of you that live there, I'm sorry.

I've been to other, minor cities, of course, though most of those are in California. Santa Cruz (go Slugs! Merrill College was my home. go visit the Wall!), San Jose, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo. All those are actually fairly nice places.

See y'all around.

dude if i ever get married it's going to be in vegas. eff the church ceremony. i don't mind the after party but it really is for the friends and family. i'd rather get hitched by elvis, gamble and drink myself stupid, and then finish off the night in a room with a hot tub haha.

Well, thank you for getting that. I was starting to wonder if anyone would.

Although I wouldn't level San Francisco, it's not one of my favorite places. I've been to every major city in the continental US and also Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, and I'd definitely agree with LA as #1.
