I somehow forgot that I was having another story published. It's being put into a fairly meaningless anthology, but the story that they're printing is 10000 words, so it isn't as if I have the right to complain. I seem to have become the Lord of the Novella, which is a little bit like being the King of Angola, for all the good it does you. Still, it's always nice when people want to publish my stuff. It doesn't happen very often, but it's still nice.

I haven't been working on my new book as much as I would like, basically because I've been pretty lonely and miserable, which makes it difficult to write a fun comedy about a princess and a dragon. I am determined to get paid for this one, although that's as tall an order as it ever was. I've also been working on another story, a longer, messier one that I've been inexplicably writing on my iPod. It seems like a silly way to write, but I've got 4 k so far, so who knows?

I miss my kids. My ex called and yelled at me today because she feels she has them all the time. My sympathies are limited. ( I believe that her real complaint is that she doesn't have time to see the guy she left me for.) I don't understand why she wanted the kids, she doesn't ever seem to enjoy being with them. I love being with them and will gladly blow off everybody else in the world to hang out with them. Ah well.

I've always rather favored the novella length. Long enough to fully establish characters and situation but not so long as to have too much padding. Granted, that which I enjoy more in both reading and writing is often the padding (yes, yes, lets not overly examine my poor word choice at this early stage of the morning). Hmm. Good to hear you're getting published, at least.

Writing on your iPod, eh? You'll have to tell me how that works out; I borrowed an iPod a few weeks ago and could barely websurf on it. I think my fingers simply were too large to use the tiny keys. Though, I suppose, it's possible that practice would solve that issue.

Very, very sorry to hear about the Ex/kids situation. There doesn't seem to be any winners in that one. Is there any way for the situation to be reversed or amended? Or is it pretty much locked in at this point? Either way, again, very sorry to hear that it's causing you suffering.
