Ok, to clarify:
Back to Work,
Three more weeks.
So on Friday I got a call asking if I wanted to work for 3 weeks, and after figuring out what he was talking about, I realized that they managed to convince the budget people to keep 3 people on for another 3 weeks to finish all the work that wasn't even close to finished when they told everyone they were leaving on June 4th.
They kept 3 people on for 1 more week, and it clearly didn't get as much of the work done as they hoped. Near as I can tell, they decided to just keep those same 3 people for another 3 weeks, but one of those 3, knowing that he only had one more week, lined something else up, so they called me to come back for the weeks.
So yeah, not a new job, just back to the old one, an extension of 3 weeks with a 1 week vacation last week. Better than nothing, and keeps me around a less busy office to keep an open ear and eager spirit to jump on the earliest reigns of whatever new project might be getting started eventually.
-Speaking of which, Pauly freaking Shore was in for a meeting today, I think he's been pitching a reality show idea around. He didn't say "Weasel" or "Bud-dy" once, but maybe during the 10 minutes when they closed the door, that's all he was saying, non-stop. They weren't laughing during that time, so I'd say the chances of my theory being correct are decent.
