So I had a random run in with some church ladies today...I was sitting in my living room minding my own business when I heard some noise coming from the back door...(which in and of itself ius weird cause I live on the second floor of a house and no one uses the back door unless you are going down to the basement to do laundry). I looked, but didn't see anything right in front of the door. Then a couple of seconds later there was a knock. Intrigued, I went to look and there were two ladies standing there. They started talking about how the world is an evil place at the moment and how so many horrible things are happening and how they had a passage from Scripture that they wanted to read for me...I politely told them that I really didn't want to listen but that I appreciated what they were doing and hoped they had a nice day. It was really weird. I think it's kind of funny cause I am always really nice to all the Bible thumpers who come to my door and just tell them no thank you and they wander away with smiles on their faces, when I know so many people who get the ones who won't go away or leave them alone. It just amazes me how a friendly smile will make people go away every time you want them to. I really don't understand why people feel the need to go door to door to sell their religion. I personally don't care what other people believe in so long as it makes them happy and it doesn't hurt others. But I guess I'm alone when it comes to that view considering how many wars have been fought over religion...actually that kind of makes me wonder if all wars are fought about religion in one way or another...
1) Do you own a Bible?
A: yup
2) How about a copy of the Koran?
A: absolutely
3) Possibly the Bhagavad Gita?
A: Affirmative...before you all think I am crazy...I am a religion buff for one thing and for another I took a comparative religions course at one point and had to buy them
4) Do you believe in sacred texts? As in do you think that they hold the truths of life?
A: Yes and no. I think that they aren't necessarily the 'word of God' but people's interpretation of their own interaction with their own personal god. I think that they make for great stories and hold basic truths that everyone should hold near and dear to their heart. Helping those in need, respecting your fellow humans...how can ou go wrong with thoughts like that. I think people just take the texts far more seriously for their own good most of the time.

1) I do own one.
2) and 3) No, but I should.
4) The same as you. You know how I believe. There are some truths in them. I think fundamentally there are good teachings in a lot of them, but to think that it is all true is just absurd to me.
I hope you have a great one!
