still sick, but I seem to be at the tail-end of it. (however, ladyfriend who's staying with me started sneezing tonight, so maybe we'll just pass it back & forth for a while)

took 2 nights off work & have spent most of the last two days wrapped up in a quilt, swilling herbal tea (& the occasional beer, which isn't too good for the...

my "My Yahoo" horoscope for today:

Horoscope (by Astrocenter.com)
Let your sensual, nurturing instincts shine through, dear Cancer. Rely on your sixth sense more than anything. If things start to get rough, remember that you have the ability to keep your cool. Not only is this an extremely important tool, but also it is essentially vital to maintaining any sort of stability in the situation....

Bah, you know they're just out to steal your money anyway.

Whenever I start to feel the sick coming on, I kill it with echinacea and vitamin C... works like a charm. It's most effective when you start right when symptoms appear, but I don't doubt they'd help even if you're already sick. Get you to a health food store!

fucked-up situation on the homefront:

about a week & a half ago as I was getting ready for work I got a call from the Sherriff's office asking me to come pick someone up.

I didn't have to be told who it was.

J. was my mom's boyfriend for the last ten years of her life, & they've lived together for much of that time....

I have a houseguest for an indefinite period of time--which is good because she's a good friend who I haven't seen in a while, & I've been spening entirely too much time insulated like a wee hermitcrab--but it's going to take a bit of adjustment getting used to someone around the house that doesn't pad around on four paws & purr--(actually, the Partner would do...

just got a violin I ordered on ebay last week--it's about as cheap as a violin can be (30 bucks, including case, bow, rosin & little yellow square of rosin cloth) & weighs about as much as a deck of cards (& has about the same tone)

I bought it for a Christmas present for the Partner & it should be a pretty good beginner...

Wow, I haven't played my viola in, like, forever. Maybe I should do that. Hmm.

sometimes it seems like certain odd little scruples of mine are more idiotic than anything else.

my printer died a few months ago-- I thought that it might be just the cartridge, but after shelling out 30 bucks for a new one I just had a broken printer & a thirty dollar cartridge.

living in a small town (NOT the one listed over in the...

All the diaper, clothing, food, and toy expenses really bite into any tax savings. What so many people don't know is that when you deduct you don't deduct the full allowable amount, you deduct the amount of tax that would have been applied to the allowable amount. What I'm saying is this: shovel the damn snow for me, ok?

I've been working on ideas for Thoughtful Gifts for friends (without, of course, actually buying anything--I usually do that at 4:30 pm on Christmas Eve--it's sort of a tradition of mine), keeping in mind outstanding bills & the number of presents that I'll buy for myself (thus getting the benefir of both sides of the "'tis better to give than recieve" equation.)--I had a pretty...

certain events of the past few years, even tho entirely coincidental, almost seem to have the flavor of having come from the mind of a hack writer with limited imagination & a deadline breathing on the back of his neck: a muckraking journalist named "Drudge", a mass murder taking place on 9-1-1, the rescue of Jessica Lynch on April Fool's Day, a sniper whose name...

in about two weeks my partner, the love of my life, the cream in my coffee, the shine on my shoes, the crunch in my cheerios, will be coming out west.

(note: I live "out west". hence the joy.)

however--

I can't get any time off from my job, & the weekends don't quite fit for various reasons too numerous to go into here.

however--...
