To Whom it May Concern:
In the saturday edition of your paper, hidden way back in the Lifestyles section, I came across a lead sentence that has prompted me to write this missive:
The article, a review of a presentation of one-act plays by a local theatre company, opens with the line: "Writing a...

Yup. Same band, I didn't know they were from SLC. Is that Susie Homemaker quote from Cruddy?
took the little neice to the duckpond & then the park for a little while this afternoon. (had I known we we were going to the duckpond I might've scrounged up something to toss to 'em, but we just kinda ENDED UP at the duckpond--so we just kinda looked at the ducks, she giggled at the geese--& we moved on)

new pitcher--although I still look somewhat queasy.
was going to try & do something a bit Halloweeny--sinister, spooky, menacing--perhaps holding a bloody hatchet or scimitar, but the only item I have that's vaguely similar is a vegetable peeler or possibly a wax banana. sigh.
anyway, it's friday. MY friday, anyway. it's somehow not quite as momentous when it rolls around at 5 am on Tuesday...

Congratulations for having been framed! (my modest contribution to the Strange Compliments thread).
The exhibition is in the Chapelle des Penitents Bleus in La Ciotat.... (sounds touristic, isn't it?)
Are Little Niece and Little Nephew o.k.? I assume this year's Halloween will be great for them.

You should look at frankestein's (I think) profile. He has very creepy pictures.
I think Snuggle's moves his head from side to side kind of like he is about to start spinning it...

yesterday I babysat for my little niece & nephew for a couple of hours (they love me, I'm the coolest uncle ever)...she's two-&-a-half & he's a little over 5. I was mailing off a package to my partner for her birthday & had them scribble a few pictures to slide in...

If she follows uncle Dahvin's path, little niece will probably become a great cool story explainer when grown up.

it'a about a 20 minute drive from where I work to my house, a stretch of desert that, at 5 in the morning is pitch black with one little dim-lit cluster of houses about midway.

(footnote, because I don't feel like going to sleep just yet) regarding not noticing the dent:
a couple of years ago I went to visit a friend. I was told by her housemate that she was in the back bedroom.
talking to her, she asked if I was nervous at all about coming into her house.
no, I said, why? should I be?
we retraced my steps to the front door. there was blood everywhere. her dog had gotten into a particularly grisly fight & had come into the house, getting it all over the place.
I just don't notice things, sometimes--most of the time...

What's strange is that you didn't notice the taking off of the OVNI just behind you! Didn't you find intriguing that, just after that "weird streak of light", your watch stopped and started again?
heard on the radio on the way home from work that Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize.
It was long time coming & I can't think of a better soul to recieve such recognition.
The next story was about authorizing what amounts to carte blanche for Bush to do whatever he feels necessary in Iraq.

thursday.
back to work tonight.
grey outside.
messy house.
paranoid thought: back when we went into Afghanistan, most of the news coverage was taken up with Anthrax anthrax anthrax. on the eve (probably) of going into Iraq we've got Snipers snipers snipers.
the frisson of personal peril, no matter how absurd--whether it's from the mailbox with the coupons or a bullet from the clear blue...
