it's been awhile.
ended up here after some zen navigation (wonkette->fleshbot->Sicily's blog) & was a bit surprised (but not TOO) to see some internecine strife in the SG empire.
anyway, it's been, for the most part, a rotten couple of months, but things seem to be shaping up. kinda.
a couple of days into August on my days off I got a call from a friend in SLC who'd just split up with her boyfriend & was down, & was wondering if I'd come hang out for a couple of days.
that sounded like a good idea, as I was a bit down myself.
unfortunately, I also had a couple of beers in me.
(I work graveyard, so my schedules a bit wonky, & it's not unusual to have a beer or 4 in me at midmorning)
went to SLC.
for some ungodly reason, it seemed like a good idea to pick up a 4-pack of something called BtotheE on my way out of town. I'd never had it before. impulse buy, if you will.
then I bought 4 more at a town midway.
it was actually a pretty nice trip--sun shining, gorgeous, fun woman waiting, good music on the stereo...
then I plowed into the back of a car coming off the freeway.
that kind of sucked.
so did the two days in jail before I could get in touch with anybody.
(myself & the occupants of the other car were fine--my car was, however, totalled.)
so there was that.
(I also had to miss a day of work, & apparently "being in jail" isn't a good excuse, especially when you work in a prison)
as it is, there's a backlog in SLC so it'll be a while before I go in front of a judge, but I have to call every week to see if my name's come up yet.
I still have my job, but it's kind of up in the air. I quit drinking for about a month, but have started again in a much more subdued fashion.
also, went to the doctor to see about some depression-type issues & was prescribed some Brain Pills.
(which, however I have yet to recieve. it's like this: I took the prescription to the pharmacy, where I was told they have to get approval from my insurance company, which would take a day or 2. fine, says I. that was 3 weeks ago--I've checked back twice a week & was told by the pharmacy that they're waiting on the insurance company, the insurance company is waiting on the nurse, & the nurse is waiting on the pharmacy--or something like that.)
