I'm pretty paranoid (& I think that if you ain't, yer just not paying attention) in that I pretty much suspect that there's a hell of a lot more to whatever the Government (ANY government, even the damn Water Board, when you get right down to it) or the Media (even, say, the Water Board newsletter) tells me is immediately suspect.

& there's another part of me that's read a lot of Pulp in my formative years (which I hope will continue for a good many more decades) & sees something a lot more sinister, mysterious & occult in world events than simple Power Struggles & Land Grabs--

f'rinstance: what if the whole bloody mess in Iraq, with it's dozens of coalition corpses & thousands of Iraqi deaths, is just a cover to get something out of the recently ransacked Baghdad Museum?

where's Doc Savage when we need him?

(I had a similar thought when we first went into Afghanistan, thinking, "Hmmmm. The Exorcist (both the book & the movie) opened in Afghanistan..." but immediately dismissed this as being too obvious, given that it's pretty much conventional wisdom that GWB is the AntiChrist, & that, further, his whole being the Prince of Darkness is probably just a sly cover to get control of the pipeline, or the poppy fields or, even sillier, a childish lashing out for Blood Retribution at one of the most impoverished countries on the planet for 9/11....

nah. I'm prob'ly just paranoid....
chiquita:
wow. that is great. "if you're not paranoid, you're not paying attention." do you carry that in a bumper sticker?

man, i gotta say the whole deck of cards concept is really 'inspiring.' i mean what the fuck? who's brilliant idea was it to declare saddam the ace of spades?!
