8 more days until NYC.
my itinerary is pretty much what it usually is on a trip--namely: get there. spend a good chunk of time just kinda wandering around, spend a lot more money than I intended to, come home.
I've tended, in the past, to spend a goodly amount of time in bookstores & bars, & I'm hoping this'll be a bit different, but we'll see.
I lived in NYC for maybe a grand total of two years, & during that time I was able to see (at least superficially) a major portion of the five borroughs--part of the time I was homeless & broke & was able to wander around pretty much as I wished, part of the time was working on various films that shot at a different location every day (with the exception of one which was entirely on set in Chelsea)--
I still don't really have much of an idea of what I want to do--one of my regular bars has since had a (pretty bad) film made about it (Coyote Ugly) & I'm pretty sure the bartenders that used to let me drink for free are gone.
thus far: definitely the Met & MOMA & hopefully the Cloisters (which I always meant to see when I was living there, but never got around to)
the Nuyorican
Colombia University (which is great if you're homeless--or was, this was a couple of years back, because I could usually find a free terminal to get on the internet for a bit)
dunno what else--the friend that I'm going to see is thinking about going back to college to finish up her degree, so we're probably going to check out a few campuses up-state & have been talking about taking a quick trip up to Toronto--
anyway, suggestions, anybody?
