I'm a bit confused about the difference between "regime change" (which according to 16 or 17 times per hour I hear this phrase, is a good thing) & "nation building" (which, if I remember correctly, is a bad thing, something we do not, have not & will not engage in), or the difference between "weapons of mass destruction" &, well, bunker-busters (with a nifty little nougat of nuclear material), cluster bombs (or are they food packets? don't worry, tho, we didn't sign the landmine act, we're covered either way!), daisy-cutters, more varieties of bombs & missiles than you can shake yer bloody stump at & so many new toys that we're simply salivating over the chance to try out on their older (but only nominally less lethal--dead is, y'know, like, still dead, yo) ones They (the evil-doers) have. (forgetting, it seems, that we provided 'em in the first place. Bill Hicks: "Can't we just look at the reciept?")

the question (concerning Saudi involvement in "terrorists" organizations--& I honestly wouldn't be surprised to wake up tomorrow to find the ACLU, Amnesty International or Not in Our Name on the list) of "What part of "your either with us or against us" don't you understand?" I would have to answer "What I don't understand is why we must persist in behaving like the snotty rich fuck on the playground intent on crushing anyone who doesn't immediatly recognize our innate superiority & kiss our ass without pause, without making even the most casual, passing remark that even the most superior ass still just tastes likes ass."

there's a link provided on the "home" page os SG today to Bush's speech of September 20 that struck me at the time as banal & insipid. re-reading it today it strikes me as obscene.

I've read countless times that September 11, terrible as it was, brought out the best in the country. I saw a lot of cheap flags, even cheaper "Patriotism" , the Constitution run thru the ringer. & fear.

"with us or against us"

I've read a number of editorials, letters to the editor, whatever, citing one of the main reasons we shouldn't go into Iraq (& Afghanistan before it--remember that? Afghanistan? it was on t.v. for a while until we got bored with it.) as being the potential loss of American lives, but little or no concern for Iraqi (or Afghani) lives.

this is, apparently "Us". this is the face we're putting on for the world.

I can't be that "Us" God help that "Us." I have to be against that "Us" or jab out my eyes, stop up my ears & cut out my heart, forget about all that I've learned about humanity, history, philosophy, religion, & go back to the meanest, most petty elements of the schoolyard.

sorry. all over the place here today.
Question: Are you with us or against us?

I've got this teacher that is teaching us about how America was founded somewhat like a cult and continues to function as such. The us vs. them tactic is right up there in manipulation of the masses, we're suckers for someone to hate. Its funny how applicable the cult views are right now.

Also, do you know why concertina wire is named what it is? And is it or it not the spiraled razor edged barbed wire?
