current work-related bullshit:

a couple of months ago something was said to me that, frankly, I forgot about as soon as it was said.

in some alternate universe, perhaps, it could possibly have been percieved as a vague threat, altho it was intended, & taken by me, as a sort of feeble joke.

it was said by officer A. in the presence of officer B. & nurse C. (I can't give details, as there is an investigation ongoing. besides, they're not very interesting.)

a month or so afterwards, I recieved notice that I would have to report to our liason for the Attorney General concerning the events of such&such a night. given that the nights pretty much run together & I couldn't think of anything remotely interesting that happened during that time period, I naturally assumed that I fucked something up & didn't realize it (not an unusual occurance, altho I can usually repair the damage before anyone notices.)

it concerned the "threat".

I said, basically, I'd forgotten all about it, that I didn't think it was a serious threat, just a dumb thing said in front of the wrong people.

nonetheless, I was informed, there has to be an investigation as, in case I haven't noticed, I work in a place where there are a helluva lot of guns scattered around.

that was the last I heard of it, at least officially (we have to sign statements to the effect that anything regarding an investigation is NOT to be discussed.) altho there was, of course, a bit of discussion--mostly to the effect that officer A was probably going to lose his job & we all gotta kind of be careful about what we say to someone who might take it too seriously...

officer A. was moved to a different shift & placed in posts that didn't have guns in them.

I relieved him last night & the investigation came up.

basically, what I gleaned from the conversation was that he'd talked to officer B & nurse C. & they'd both said that they thought it was pretty shitty that he might lose his job for saying a dumb thing to the wrong person.

which, doing the math, means me.

which means that I've been fingered as the one that narced him off to A.G.'s office.

which means--for god knows how long--I've been fitted with a snitch jacket.

which means I'm going to have to have a little chat with officer B. & nurse C.
tororo:
Uh-oh. This rises a number of questions.... are you, or have you been, or will you be, the wrong person at the wrong place at the wrong time? or the wrong person at the right place at the wrong time? the right person at the wrong place at the right time? the right person at the wrong place at the wrong time?
