SOMEWHAT GRUESOME: WARNING:
it seems to me that there's a portion of the violence that occurs at the prison is due to power-plays by the various gangs, dominance, self-defence or punishment meted out due to the nature of an inmates crime or gambling/drug debts.
but the vast majority of incidents can be chalked up to good old-fashioned boredom.
night before last an inmate buzzed up to the "bubble" (control room) that he was having trouble with his eye that turned out to be a chunk of metal sticking out of it.
(I was working, but in a different unit, so all of this info was recieved second-hand, a little bit after the fact.)
the nurse was dispatched, then the doctor. inmate (such&such) stated that he fell on a straightened out staple. which went into his eye. almost all the way.
(he was in a single cell, so there was no chance of an assault)
upon investigation, it was determined that the metal in question was a length of copper wire that had been pushed THRU THE EYELID into the eyesocket, where it bent.
where it had to be removed with tweezers.
what happened?
basically: He tried to pierce his eyebrow. & missed.
let this be a lesson to you, kids.
I don't know what that lesson is, but, well, try & learn from it, eh?

I can't believe there has been so far neither porn nor fan-fiction made available, involving weed-whackers?
Also, I saw there was a new thread in the Site section about Neil Gaiman... and I realized all of a sudden that I have had the link to Gaiman's site in my browser's Favorites list fot more or less one year and I never went visiting it!
I'm clearly a relic from the ages that preceded the Information Age, I never think of doing things like this.
