got some--well, KIND OF good news that came out of a really rotten situation...
yesterday I babysat for my little niece & nephew for a couple of hours (they love me, I'm the coolest uncle ever)...she's two-&-a-half & he's a little over 5. I was mailing off a package to my partner for her birthday & had them scribble a few pictures to slide in...

I'm really glad your neice is okay, thats good about the dogs getting homes. I hope it all gets straightened out.
I would say....no gift?
tororo:
If she follows uncle Dahvin's path, little niece will probably become a great cool story explainer when grown up.

I've decided I don't want to work at a prison anymore.
I want to dance....

it'a about a 20 minute drive from where I work to my house, a stretch of desert that, at 5 in the morning is pitch black with one little dim-lit cluster of houses about midway.
about half an hour ago, coming home, dog-tired, thinking about the beer that was waiting for me at home & wondering about a weird streak of light that had fallen...

(footnote, because I don't feel like going to sleep just yet) regarding not noticing the dent:
a couple of years ago I went to visit a friend. I was told by her housemate that she was in the back bedroom.
talking to her, she asked if I was nervous at all about coming into her house.
no, I said, why? should I be?
we retraced my steps to the front door. there was blood everywhere. her dog had gotten into a particularly grisly fight & had come into the house, getting it all over the place.
I just don't notice things, sometimes--most of the time...
tororo:
What's strange is that you didn't notice the taking off of the OVNI just behind you! Didn't you find intriguing that, just after that "weird streak of light", your watch stopped and started again?

heard on the radio on the way home from work that Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize.
It was long time coming & I can't think of a better soul to recieve such recognition.
The next story was about authorizing what amounts to carte blanche for Bush to do whatever he feels necessary in Iraq.
disturbing thought: if Carter were to run again, in...

thursday.
back to work tonight.
grey outside.
messy house.
paranoid thought: back when we went into Afghanistan, most of the news coverage was taken up with Anthrax anthrax anthrax. on the eve (probably) of going into Iraq we've got Snipers snipers snipers.
the frisson of personal peril, no matter how absurd--whether it's from the mailbox with the coupons or a bullet from the clear blue...

Yup, still writing an SG article. It'll be lots of fun, i'm gonna finish it up this weekend, I believe, and i'll post it in my journal at some point.

i always want to comment on here-but you're always going off about intensely serious stuff-so i feel like an idiot saying hey-yeah i'm retarded and silly and i have nothing important to say-so yeah i did it.

(names changed)

...ooo, cheesy but steamy.[refers to subject title *blush*]
hi there. I remembered (after ph. conversation) that the very night before talking with you, I had this crazy dream. You, Annie and Maria came to [midwestern city] and we go to this bar but i was only talking with Annie because
you and Maria were so serious and exclusive like, not...

I'm not ashamed to say that I got jacked-off by a true professional last night.
unfortunately, it was the President, & he didn't even bother to wipe the oil & blood off his hands first.
at least he didn't charge me for it.

yet.
orchid1:
You too?
bettietwoguns:
interesting. yes. i think we all did.

I am:
twenty-nine, single, straight.
a little over 6 feet, somewhere around 150 lbs, at present.
stuck in a small town, itching to get out.
extremely attractive, I've been told.
somewhat odd-looking, I've also been told.
very funny, according to some.
incredibly strange, to others.
almost pathologically disorganized.
stand-offish, gloomy, usually drunk, quiet, shy.
happy-go-lucky, up-for-anything, friendly.
a pretty good kisser.

I am into:
pina...

pondering the personal, which I guess I'll slip in this space tomorrow a.m.
going into work at midnight instead of 9pm because I have to "qualify" with the mini-14 tomorrow morning (i.e.: put enough holes in paper man in case I'm ever, in the line of duty, attacked by a paper man standing perfectly still.)
this would be the first time I've fired the mini...

My uncle is a babysitter with a gun at Vacaville's prison here. Oh actually no, I take that back, he works in forensics now! I'm fascinated with that kinda stuff.

saturday.
shifting shifts at work pretty much obliterates my weekends...not that I really DO much of anything, but it's kinda nice having the option open.
graveyard last night pretty much consisted of re-reading "Something Wicked This Way Comes" & going around with my little flashlight every two hours to make sure everyone was tucked in, in the right beds in the right cells, clutching their...

where my name comes from
(just don't want anybody to think that I have any particular animosity--or kink--towards any particular "Julia". actually, the only "julia" that I've ever really known was (name-droppage! name-droppage!) the actress Julia Stiles, with whom I had a relationship for a couple of months.
actually, the relationship consisted of me giving her small sandwiches & her thanking me for them.
also,...

killing time before another graveyard shift.
didn't really do much today.
recording "Something Wicked This Way Comes" partly as Halloween present for far-flung friends & partly to be DOING SOMETHING--recorded the first five chapters today, shouild get a couple more tommorrow & then begins the arduos process of editing out throat-clearings, tummy gurgles, lipsmacks, mangled locution & stitching in a bit of atmospheric sound &...
