Alright, so synthetic cubism evolved out of analytic cubism. synthetic cubism came at a time where man made materials were being mass-produced (ex. wallpaper, wood paper, etc.) The cubist painter Braque was the first to use this technique of incorporating these man made materials directly into a painting. Picasso, Braque's friend and rival, also started to use this technique. Eventually synthetic cubism evolved into more of a form of collage, such as in Picasso's piece "Guitar, Sheet Music and Wine Glass." Often, Picasso would cut out a part of "Le Journal", leaving only "Le Jou", and incorporate this into his pieces. "Le Jou" means the game, and it was believed that Picasso did this in reference to the friendly competition between him and Braque. Also, unlike most analytic cubist pieces, synthetic cubism brought back color into the artworks. They did, however, keep with the analytical cubist tradition of shallow depth of space and objects broken down into simple shapes.
