it must be the same movie. What is really interesting is that it's not even a "thing" in all of America (I'm not sure about whether or not it happens in other countries, I'll have to research that)...it's a really souther/middle-american thing, it seems. A lot of the communities that hold these smaller pagents are in the south and the midwest and are relatively poor or at least not wealthy at all. It's almost as if having a daughter who wins these things is a way to increase social status in some ways.
