Last night, I was talking with my roommate about his recent conquest of the Chicago Marathon a week earlier. Joe and his brother Charlie, one of my college friends, both ran it. Charlie, a D-1 wrestler at 125 back in the day, finished in about 3:45 Joe finished the race, but that was his main goal.

Well, while Joe and I were sitting at Jake's Cafe in New Brighton on Monday, we were discussing how much weight he'd lost in training to run the marathon, how long it takes and how he was able to stay motivated having never been "a runner" before. Well, my brash nature said "Well, if he can do it, I can do it."

So it was then determined, April 19 _ St. Louis Marathon _ I'm going to run.

It's also noted that I'm coming off a 14-hour pig roast from the St. Thomas-St. John's game here in the Twin Cities. Yeah, we roasted a big ol' hog and got after it. . MEM-RIES

I'm also starting today _ but I have to start training for the actual training. Joe worked on an 18-week campaign, I have a lot more time before that even gets started to get myself into shape to where I can actually "train" for the race itself, and move past training for the training.

Why? I'm not exactly right in the head, but it's six months away and it's a good way to pry myself away from hospitality rooms during wrestling season. So no, this isn't going to be some weight loss blog, although the ZWLC has remained steady at 261 pounds since moving here.

After work, it's shoes.
So you can add weather, gas and fat guy updates to the daily four points.

My co-worker is already a runner _ he runs probably 70 miles a week. Yes, he averages 10 miles a day and goes seven minutes a mile. HOLY CRAP. Tip #1: Don't try to get on his pace.

Today, I simply start walkin' and this is going to be fun to do in Minnesota's winters.
