Lake Placid and shit ....
April's winding down and basically, it's all about spring cleaning. Cleaning of the office, cleaning of the house, cleaning of the dishes, cleaning of the laundry and cleaning of the mind.
I sit here, watching some horrendously bad horror flicks on SCI-FI because I feel like doing nothing with my day. Nothing with my weekend, except those simple pleasures like folding hot towels after they come from the dryer and buying posters and hanging them hap-hazardly along my no-longer-barren walls. Right now, I have this gem on the TV ... Lake Placid 2.
I saw the first one about a year or so ago, and all the reviews on IMDB had people loving it for sone cult-type following. As with what's going on right now, I cannot stop laughing. This movie is so bad, it's great. One of those made-for-TV efforts that just simply scream HORRIBLE. Bad computer graphics, horrible sound editing, GREAT DIALOGUE!!!!
Anyway, Nate was mentioning that my place lacked "class" and I basically had to agree with him, so I've done some poster re-decorating courtesy of Wal-Mart, A.C. Moore, Allposters.com and my own personal collection.
Anyway, I'm just happy go lucky right now that wrestling season has come to and end, although the summer will give me two more trips -- one to Las Vegas -- for the U.S. World Team Trials and my yearly pilgrimage to Fargo for the Junior Nationals. I've never been to Vegas, so I'm kinda pumped to finally see the strip, lose all my money and come home penniless (did I spell that right?) on a Greyhound. With any luck I'll run into Elisabeth Shue and she'll comfort me on a weekend bender.
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE Elisabeth Shue? Reason I bring it up is because "The Saint" was on today, the movie with Val Kilmer. I love that freakin' movie and I think it's the one where she looks absolutely AMAZING throughout. MMMMMM MMMMMM those knee highs!
Anyway,
The Fargo trip is always fun and I'm working on getting set for another major trip -- my first one across the Atlantic. I'm going to Azerbiajian -- yes, I always misspell that too. It's for the World Championships so I'll need a passport and a visa to get in and around. USA Wrestling's probably going to take care of the visa once I get the passport, but of all the places to go overseas, Baku (AZE's capital city) wasn't exactly high on the list. Well, something new and different.
I'm also sans-goatee for the first time since last July. I always complain about myself when I shave it, because I feel I look fatter without it, but the consensus from the people that count (re: women) is always pretty favorable. I've had the goatee since I could really grow one. I'm just not used to seeing myself without it. It's a rarity, but I'm going to give it a shot for a while and see what happens. If anything, it's more motivation to hit the bike.
I've gotten some nicer clothes, new glasses and I'm not wearing hats as much, and it's nice to go to work and look somewhat approprite, although in my office, no one really cares what I wear to work. Just nice to have people notice. Maybe soon that will end up being the norm.
Other news, eBay again got me a nice, slightly used, mini disc player/recorder. I've always been a fan of the MD and its many uses, mainly live recording. I've been ripping some old bootlegs of concerts and having some fun with that. Going through old discs that I'd had from my friend David Carter's performances and some live 2 Skinnee J's stuff can take me back to great times and great nights with friends.
Back to Lake Placid 2!!!!
Next, on Sci-Fi
Doting Deputy just got his arm ripped off and then he got eaten. This is soooo great.
