Wow. Its been a long time since I last posted. A loooong time. I've pretty much been trying to hide from all society, even the online world.

Unfortunately, I am now forced to reintegrate myself back into society.

I handed out a lot of resumes a while back and had pretty much given up on ever hearing back. Lo and behold, though, I got a call on friday from an engraving store. Of course, the one place that calls me is the place that I least wanted to work at. I guess I can hardly complain, because I really need this job.

They didn't call my references, but instead asked me contact them myself and get them to mail me written reference letters. This seems really wierd to me for a lot of reasons.
1. They've already offered me the job.
2. Why wouldn't they just call them? Its a long distance call, but is this place really that frugal?
3. They want me to call my boss from 4 years a go and get her to write me a reference letter and mail it to me? I'll be lucky if she remembers who I am.

For these and other reasons (the manager seems really flakey, it only pays minimum wage and I have no idea how many hours I'm going to get) I am extremely skeptical about this job. But as I said, I need the work so I have to take it.

I've gone to see a psychiatrist a couple of times. He's put me on paxil (the fifth anti-depressant I've tried now) and told me that the only way to treat my social anxiety is to go to group therapy. Great. I'm afraid of spiders, too, should I just fill the bathtub with them and lie down in it?

We went and saw the departed last week-end. It was really great, but sinse we had already seen the japanese film it was based on, the suspense wasn't all there. They did mix up the ending a little bit though, in a good way, so that was nice.

Well, tomorrow I become a key-maker. Wish me luck.

YAY!!

Good luck with the job.

Yeah, it seems odd that they'd want you to contact your past employers for references yourself. Very lazy on their part. It would freak me out too, cuz I wouldn't want to call them.

And good luck with the Paxil. It worked wonders for me years ago. But please, if it doesn't work, don't give up, try other meds. Something is bound to help.

I think it's great that you've seen a psychiatrist. Yeah, it's bizarre that they'd suggest group therapy, but it also makes sense. Yes, if you were afraid of spiders, there's a school of thought that would mean your therapist would 'force' you to be around spiders. Though I don't think they'd throw you into a tub full of them. At least not at first.

I was assessed years ago for group therapy and they turned me down. I was too confrontational apparently. Mind you, that was a year or two before they'd figure out that I was schizophrenic.

I suppose they hope that you'd feel like the group was a safe, therapeutic environment, thus easing the stress of being around other people.

Good luck!
