i had a telemarketer call me the other day. he told me to 'fuck off' and hung up the phone on me. now, i've certainly been known, in the past, to fuck with the odd telemarketer and such. (although sometimes i just try to get them to laugh because its always nice to cheer up people who have such shitty jobs--lets all do our part to help keep the social order!)
but this time was different. some dude called me on my mobile and rattled off some long spiel about god knows what, and when he finally stop talking (in a very broken form of english that laid somewhere between souff london and inner city american ghetto gang) i had to tell him, very politely i might add, that i hadn't understood a single thing that he had said.
he was obviously annoyed by this. so he repeated. he didn't bother to slow down the speed of his speech. he made no attempt to be more articulate. so at the end of this second run, in efforts to prevent a third (as the speech was rather long), i simply asked him who he was and where he was calling from.
this, for some reason, heightened his annoyance. now, for one thing, you called me, remember? and for another, i stated that i couldn't understand what you were talking about but your pea brain obviously didn't register this as being either 1) your fault because you are hardly educated in the english language, or 2) my fault (for the same reason).
he did, however, tell me who he was and where he was calling from. which i didn't understand. so i asked what he was calling about. and he wanted to know whether my mobile phone was on a pay-as-you-go thingy, or a contract. at which time i realized how stupid i had been to devote so much of my time to this loser telemarketer because 1) i hadn't, until this point, even realized he was a telemarketer, and 2) i had only purchased my mobile phone and contract for it about 1 month ago and even if i was able to change my contract, would i want to? no.
so at this point, i said "look dude, i just really dont want to talk to you, ok?"
he didn't like that. he told me to fuck off and then hung up the phone.
what a loser.
