I probably need to update this. So here's something.

Around two years ago I blogged here about the new project I was about to start working on. Via Variety:

A group of documentary directors are teaming for a docu based on "Freakonomics," the bestselling book in which economist Steven D. Levitt uses theory and statistics to analyze pop culture phenomena.

Doc is being produced by Chad Troutwine ("Paris je t'aime" ) and Seth Gordon ("The King of Kong" ).

Rafi Chaudry ("Paris je t'aime" ) will be co-producer, and Gordon will provide the intro and interstitials between each segment.

Very excited now to finally give you the update on the film. From the TFF Blog:

The Tribeca Film Festival, presented by American Express, the Founding Sponsor of the Festival, is very pleased to announce that its closing night gala will be the documentary Freakonomics.

This unique documentary is directed by a number of critically acclaimed filmmakers: Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady (Jesus Camp, 12th & Delaware), Alex Gibney (Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson ), Seth Gordon (The King of Kong), Eugene Jarecki (Why We Fight, The Trials of Henry Kissinger), and Morgan Spurlock (Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden?, Super Size Me).

I'm pretty thrilled about having Tribeca as a launching pad. It seems like the most natural fit, with most of our filmmakers as well as Dubner being NY-based, and I've not had a film screen at TFF before, so it should be fun.
