It's futile to wonder. Probably there was something about your actions before you noticed him that pissed him off, like maybe he was waiting for you to go not realizing you didn't have a green light, or something. The anger is his issue, not yours. The fact that he held onto it like that is his, not yours. Speaking as someone who used to have a lot of anger issues, and used to flip people off in traffic, I have to say that you really aren't going to be able to guess what you did that set him off, because it wasn't something you did - it was all him. As a formerly angry person, I apologize to you on his behalf.
