Kind of a complicated holiday season for me. Trying to get away to see my grandma between Xmas and New Year's.
Sending presents late, because one of them is a family video set of my Katrina video Family Edition and another home movie-documentary on my girlfriend "AC" & I in search of my ancestor John Moss (wrote about this before).
It's gotten into this elaborate thing with 8 hours of footage I'm editing down into 40 minutes or so. Maybe I'll try to put it on Google video.
In the meantime I have this freelance gig which is a pretty good one for me to do -- I'm editing this short video for a nonprofit, it's called "The Secret Life of Cell Phones." But they want a version by next week so I have to hustle to get it done in time to get out of town. There's a lot of hairy unforseen technical complications that have to do with High-Def formats and how lame and unorganized the previous producers and editors of this short were.
My mom, who I'm coming to realize has got some borderline mental-health issues, is upset with me so she's not participating in any Christmas gathering with me. My dad may be coming into NYC but as usual I won't know probably until he's somewhere in the city and I have to go meet him and my siblings somewhere in an hour.
The only people in my extended family I'm seeing for sure are AC's folks, tomorrow for dinner and I guess on Christmas day, provided my mom or dad don't require last-minute changes.
All this sounds like I'm griping but I'm really not. It's just my life. Kind of fun, though pains in the ass can emerge from the complicated, unpredictable family factors.
