Another early Saturday morning at my part-time gig where I can kind of let my mind settle after another FUN week...LOL. This sort of stuff has become the norm, so I am becoming way too accustomed to it. Here's the scoop...on Wednesday, I got the call at 3:30 am that my father was being transported to the ER with difficulty breathing and shoulder and chest pain...not good. It turns out that it is related to the mass in his lungs, that they still have no clue on. So they gave him something for the pain. I took him to his regular doctor on Thursady morning. After several hours of waiting on test results, his doctor decided to put him back in the hospital...low blood counts. When he was hospitalized three weeks ago, they gave him two units of blood and he was still anemic...not good again. Internal bleeding somewhere in his intestinal tract seems to be the culprit. He is resting comfortably, maintaining his usually grumpy demeanor. Complaining about the food, the tests, et al. I am pretty confident that he is in good hands at Fairfax Hospital. Hopefully, I will be able to take him home later today.

Of course, this adds to my poor wife Kathy's distress. If her struggle with breast cancer isn't enough, add in my dad's numerous trips to the hospital, my mom's generally poor health, her Kia Sedona van being in the shop for two days before the idiots at the dealer could figure out the suspension problem. Then, there is Jager. My wife's sister's dog, that we are watching for two weeks. He is a very cute Bichon, with an engaging personality. However, he is spoiled rotten, and comes with an endless list of rules and regulations along with my sister in laws micro-managing from her vacation, has set Kathy's teeth on edge. Ordinarily, Kathy could shrug it all off, but right now things are a little overwhelming. She is also worried about me too. Plus, she is stressing about her upcoming surgery. She decided on the bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Step one is Monday morning when we meet with the plastic surgeon, Dr. Roberta Gartside. She is supposed to be one of the best.

So, despite a bit of a shaky week, I've made it to Saturday relatively unscathed. I have thought briefly about talking to my doctor about some prescription help to take the edge off, but so far I have resisted despit the fact that she has offered it to me. I guess I remain stubborn about wanting to get through this without any help, other than from my friends. smile

In an unrelated matter, my radio station is now 94.7 The Globe. We are undergoing a very cool makeover. Check out the website at www.947theglobe.com. You can listen online. We play everything from the classics like Zeppelin and the Stones, to newer bands like Snow Patrol and The Fray. Also included are the Chili Peppers, NIN, Foo Fighters and a whole lot more. Let me know what you think.

Anyway, I've got to go push some more buttons, as well as refill my coffee cup. Thanks again for all of the support and kind words. Have a great weekend everyone! smile
