Byron and Mike (his boss) are in the back right now building a cat door into the back door. Now all we have to do is get Marvin used to using it before our trip next month... miao!!

Yesterday was fun. It started out on an interesting note. While getting gas, the attendant asked Byron if he listened to classic rock at all. "No," said Byron. The guy kept throwing names at him, and Byron kept saying "no." The guy finally said he was asking because he thought Byron looked like Pat Travers. He then proceeded to tell an amusing story about his 4th grade teacher who was allegedly beat up by Pat Travers after the teacher caught him messing around with his wife. Or something. We got a good chuckle out of it.

Then off to Dania to get some bookcases that Byron had ordered. Man, that place is the Government House of Furniture. I really felt like I was trespassing or something. Then we went to the framing place to pick up the stuff we had taken over a couple weeks ago to get framed. Two were posters that Byron had gotten years ago, and one was an original painting by Xavier Cugat that he got on eBay. The guy did a fabulous job on all of them. Then we stopped at the pet shop on the corner to get the cat door, then came back home to unload the truck. The weather wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it was going to be; there was a cloudburst of big heavy rain and some hail, and it was a little chilly and misty, but all in all, we probably could have braved the Beltane celebration and come out OK (apparently they had a great time in spite of the weather; dammit they should have had it today, the weather is incredibly gorgeous!!). Oh well.....

After that we went down to SE Division and had lunch at the Kalga Kafe. Very cool organic vegetarian Indian food. I had an excellent falafel sandwich. Would definitely go back there again! Then we walked through a neat antique store and then over to Laughing Horse Books, the local lefty/activist/anarchist bookstore. Very cool. I got Matthew Fox's autobiography, a book of essays on bisexuality and feminism, and another one of "12 lesbians who changed the world." Was very surprised and rather dismayed to discover that Nervy Girl is no longer free!! Costs $4 now. Really, though, I'm surprised it was free for as long as it was. An extremely excellent zine.

Then we came home, Byron started putting one of the bookcases together, then we had Morningstar Buffalo Wings with ranch dressing and watched our new DVD of Sunset Boulevard. All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.......... smile
