Yesterday's bowling scores: 91, 97 and 129. Not bad for someone who bowls maybe 3 times a year (must remedy that). I definitely need to get an 11 pound ball; I think I've outgrown my 20-year-old 10 pounder.

OK, insert requisite bowling ball joke here. I like the phone prank one:

CALLER: Do you have 10 pound balls?
BOWLING ALLEY EMPLOYEE: Yes.
CALLER: Well how...

I went bowling a few weeks ago at one of those all-electric, 'bowling for dummies' places...was at 101 in the 6th frame, when our time ran out and the damn lane clicked off! Grrrrr!! mad

Aaack, I need to respond to everyone who's commented in my journal! But I need to tell you about yesterday first, and then I'll respond to everyone, I promise...

First we hit the Goodwill as-is in Milwaukie and got another buttload of stuff. Byron has quite a knack for discovering odd pieces of old electronic equipment and games. The hipster contingent was surprisingly low this...

Thanks for the kind words and support, everyone. Yer da best!! kiss If you're curious, just go to the "...how do you all get by?" thread on the Lifestyle board and see where it all began. I have no idea what happened after I signed off, and I don't wanna know. Whatever.

Byron's boss (and high school classmate) gave him his entire Get Smart collection on...

nothing wrong with what you said.some of those ppl could take some of that advice to heart.
Anyways whatever floats ya boat I guess, never been one for scipt drugs myself,I hardly take asprin.
Have indulged in party extras on a number of occasions but that has always been for entertainment and never as an "escape"........rock and roll pretty much does it for me,and footy, and a few beers, and riding my bike and sometimes solitude, peace and quiet.

There's nothing to make one feel more like shit than trying to help out someone who's hurting, and instead of thanks, you get accused of being "judgemental" and basically not knowing what you're talking about. OK, I don't understand addictive personalities. I was just trying to help. I'm sorry. Won't happen again. You all can wallow about in your existential angst; obviously you enjoy it....

Take heart in the fact that you tried to help.. most people are so preoccupied with their own world they can't even get that far... It says a lot about you as a person that you care enough to try to help...

It's unfortunate that a lot of people can't even accept help until they hit rock bottom and realise how badly they need it...

And it angers me greatly that some people just don't seem to "get" the implications/motivations behind someone helping them... ...caring...

Hope this makes sense.. I don't know the situation, so this is just a general rant about people and consideration and inconsideration...

hmm..
estrada:
People are often conditioned to not accept help, it goes against "rugged individualism". At least you tried, so many other people do not even bother with that.

Learning to accept help took me a long time, and I am still having problems with it.

I hope you feel better.

It's 11:36 pm and I just got done eating dinner!! eeek Oftentimes we eat late, but rarely this late. Byron made his famous spaghetti with the Gardenburger-brand meatballs, but he got a bit of a late start. Plus we were low on spaghetti, so he made it with half spaghetti and half lasagna noodles... No, we don't do anything routine in this household! It was still...

Maybe my bf and I shouldn't have paid the extra $60 each to insure 2 week delivery, as we are a mere 5 weeks away... I didn't want to, but what if we were to be in the 1 percentile (or whatever) to receive it after 5 or 6 weeks, and not within 3 or 4? It's a gamble and works more like an insurance. I suspected it would be 3 weeks, actually...but maybe it was that for you and wouldn't have been for us or others. I used the pen on a chain the woman who was helping us had at her desk as a divinatory pendulum, and it said we would have gotten ours in time without paying extra. The woman remarked that the fan was on, but it wasn't blowing in the 'pen-dulum''s path...
My bf said it might also take more time now because they may do a background check on you to make sure you're you and not a deceased person, etc., though I don't think they'd waste their time, but maybe they would post 9-11. What do you think?
Yes, my ex-band member recommended her belly dance teacher to me...I might take lessons from her.
Holland, cool. I've been there; I used to live in Paris. I'm supposed to visit a friend in Den Haag in the Netherlands while I'm there and we're going to try to attend the Treffen gothic music festival in Leipzig, Germany on June 1.

"I'm so sick of the way I live, of all this junk, and always dragging more home. Just white walls and a clean floor, that's all I want. The only chic thing is to have nothing." - Andy Warhol

Can you relate?

stickyrice:
Didn't know Andy Warhol said that, but for the past few years I've owned nothing more than will fit in the back of my car. We have no furniture except for a card table and folding chair on which I perform my daily labors. Bed is an air mattress on the living room floor, by the fireplace. No TV ... I've never seen "Saturday Night Live," or "The Simpsons" or "Seinfeld" ... nothing on the walls. A lot of books, though. I collect them, almost against my will.

Lately I've been in the midst of trying to sell and/or get rid of a bunch of my stuff.. but it's extremely difficult when you're a photographer and you *have* to accumulate props.. ...and it doesn't help that my boyfriend is an audio-engineer and is always managing to bring home new gear... *sigh*

YAY!!! My Belly Dancing group just got approved!!!! So, if you are a dancer, musician, or merely an enthusiastic supporter of the art, please go here and join me, won't you?? biggrin

Not a whole helluva lot of stuff happened today. Byron's been organizing his record collection while trying to get his office space straightened out so he can start doing his taxes, and I've been,...

Today I am getting MY passport stuff taken care of because I'm going to Paris, where I used to live, for 3 weeks on May 21. The thing was either lost or stolen, not sure which.
How long did it take you to get yours?

PS I'm at the SF LL. The Seattle one's not union.

New profile pic, taken only an hour or so ago in front of my altar, which you really can't see... Like many Witches, I seem to be obsessed with books, and my altar is atop a bookcase.

Had a much nicer day today. Went grocery shopping, took a nap, and when Byron got home we went to dinner at the St. Johns Pub and after...

I can't thank you enough for the kind words. I know it seems rather foolish for me to be giving up now. I mean, really, I'm only 19. Lots of time to go. But today things just don't seem to be going well. I think I need something to change my mind. Just waiting around impatiently for it to show up. Thank you again for taking the time out to leave me such a kind message.

Wow. If it is possible to have done a 360 from the way I was feeling yesterday, I've done it. I feel like someone just told me my mother died. What the hell is going on?? I know the perimenopause is creeping up on me, but it's been a lot better since I'm not going to school this quarter; less stress, etc. Today, though, I...
