OK. I think I am caught up enough on my sleep to be able to write something relatively intelligible about our trip!! May have to do this in two or three parts; we'll see. So, here goes:

We took the bus and the Max out to the airport nice and early Wednesday morning (5/21), leaving a blissfully ignorant Marvin lounging on the front doorstep. Got...

When i was there i got to see the ENTIRE Rijksmuseum. And let me tell you, it's an amazing place. Full of artwork as far as the eye can see and so many things older than our coutnry i was floored. I was dissappointed with Anne Franks House (too modern to give the right impression i thought with glass and steel and plasma screens everywhere or so i seem to remember). The Van Gogh Musem was definately my favorite, though i suppose it helped that i was really high at the time. I think the most amazing thing though was just experiencing the culture and the peope everywhere...very enriching.
pucabul:
You seem to remember things with a remarkable clarity. I wish I had that ability. Not to mention the time and money to take a vacation in a rad foreign city.

It's hard to believe that in 24 hours we'll be on our way to the airport!! Yeee-ha!!! biggrin

"Martha Inc." was pretty great. We bounced between that and the ABC 50 year anniversary show, which was also pretty great. Taped both, naturally.

Well, today I need to iron my dress, mow the lawns, do the last of the dishes that won't fit into the dishwasher (which...

Today's Wilde quote:

There are three kinds of despots. There is the despot who tyrannizes over the body. There is the despot who tyrannizes over the soul. There is the despot who tyrannizes over the soul and body alike. The first is called the Prince. The second is called the Pope. The third is called the People.

smile

I can't top that!!

The biking is going well. I'm not riding every single day as i initialy thought. As the Tao Te Ching says "If too much energy is used, exhaustion folows. This is not the way of Tao." I was a real revalation to me. I dont NEED to ride in everyday! In fact, I shouldn't. So much more can be accomplished by staying within you boundaries. But I still feel it's necessary to push the boundaries once in a while so that you're sure where they are.

What's a despot?

Marvin caught the mouse!! eeek

We came down to finish fixing dinner, and he was lounging around underneath the dining room table with the corpse of a tiny little mouse. Byron scooped it up in a dustpan and took it outside. It was so little! Poor thing. But we thanked Marvin for doing the feline thing and for helping keep our place rodent-free. I'm just glad...

NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!

i lived on mithoff st.! about 4 years ago and we were just talking about moving back to german village next year, maybe. i was trying to talk him into going out to seattle with me since i lived there before. but then we went to schiller park in his old neighborhood yesterday and i realized that if we could find a cheap house there: i'd never want to leave. we met in that neighborhood when we were teenagers. i'm always telling him if we hit the lottery or some crazy contest i'm going to buy the house he lived in when we first met and fix it up as our family/dream house. that would be so cool.

and we definitely have to hook up in one place or the other and we'll thrift shop the hell out of wherever we are. we'll rent a huge moving van and drive around to yard sales and flea markets all day.

Really, really tired today; not sure why. Don't feel like saying much, so I'll just leave you with the Wilde quote for the day:

One should never take sides in anything - taking sides is the beginning of sincerity, and earnestness follows shortly after, and the human being becomes a bore.

i have not heard all the facts about Elizabeth yet so will hold judgement on Luger until i do

No further sign of the raccoon, thank heavens. But the mouse is definitely back... Yep, we had a mouse in the kitchen last year, and he (or one of his descendants) is back. Marvin's been stalking the kitchen cabinets and under the stove; it's really funny to watch him, his body gets all elongated and ripply like those ceramic black panther statues you see in...
