SEVERN SUZUKI: The girl who silenced the world for 6:32 minutes.
Raised in Vancouver and Toronto, Severn Cullis-Suzuki has been camping and hiking all her life. When she was 9 she started the Environmental Children's Organization (ECO), a small group of children committed to learning and teaching other kids about environmental issues. They were successful in many projects before 1992, when they raised enough money to go to the UN's Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Their aim was to remind the decision-makers of who their actions or inactions would ultimately affect. The goal was reached when 12 yr old Severn closed a Plenary Session with a powerful speech that received a standing ovation.
El 3 de junio de 1992 una nina de 12 anos llamada Severn Suzuki quien anteriormente a sus 10 anos de edad fundo ECO ( Environmental Childrens Organization ) con sus amigos en la ciudad de Vancouver Canada, se desplazo, junto a un grupo de ninos (Vanessa Suttie, Morgan Geisler, Michelle Quigg) pertenecientes a ECO (Environment Children Organization), desde Canada hasta la Conferencia de Medioambiente y Desarrollo "The Earth Summit" celebrada por la ONU en Rio de Janeiro. Una vez alli hizo este discurso: hoy a sus 28 anos.... sigue su lucha y esta graduada en la universidad de Yale.
