So, yeah. Went to Electro Rock this weekend, out in Indiana. Turned out to be nothing what I was expecting. I was told it would be indoors and that we'd be crashing at a friend's house when we all got too tired for dancing and whatnot.
It was outdoors and said friend didn't even wind up going, not to mention it turned out his place was too far away to be worth driving there and back each day.
Still, had a pretty good time. Got to hang out with some cool friends, and meet a bunch more. Had a great time the first night, though I was dead tired (some other planning mishaps wound up causing me not to get more than a couple hour's sleep before leaving). But yeah, we wandered between acts, met up with some people, talked with j-random-ravers. Was pretty cool.
The second night, though...well, I wass a lot more rested, hyped up on some mini-thins (wakey-pills for truck drivers, conviniently found in most gas stations) and generally in a lot more of a party mood. Unfortunately, the party ended early.
The shadey promoters responsible for the show apparently did not have enough money to pay for the talent that was promised. So, a lot of the headliners and even second string groups wound up not showing. Some acts volunteered to play longer sets, but still, the people in charge decided to cut all shows at midnight, Saturday night. The party was supposed to go nonstop until Sunday at 6pm.
Everyone was also kinda ticked that some of the things advertised just were not present, like an art tent and a chill room, plus the inflatable village that had been advertised turned out to cost extra.
Well, when we found out that everything was being shut down, most of the group was so ticked off they just wanted to get out of there and go straight home.
Woulda been cool just to chill with some of the people there, but ah well. A couple of the people I went down with were just out of it that night anyways and spent the entire night asleep in the car.
So, while half the group went to sleep imeadiately after getting back to our one friend's apartment, the rest of the group decided to wander around Joliet looking for something to do.
Finally did pass out early Sunday morning, but wound up waking up every hour or so, didn't really get much sleep at all. A few of us went out to watch Minority report, and then we hopped into the car for the trip back to Madison.
Still, overall I enjoyed the weekend. Got to distract myself from some things that had been gnawing at the back of my mind, met a lot of cool people, met a girl that gives AMAZING backrubs, and successfully avoided spending an entire weekend sitting bored, in front of my computer.
On a side note, I have never been harrassed by the police so much. Usually they were pretty cool about it. Once they were out specifically looking for someone and wanted to know if we'd seen them, but there was this one cop that was just looking to give someone trouble or something. Pulled us over, made us sit there for 10 minutes, and then sent us on our way never having told us why we'd been pulled over.
