i am so bummed out right now, i dont really know what to say.. our country is in a VERY bad place this afternoon.. we have blown the most important election in the last 40 years. and we will pay for it dearly over the next (at least) 4 years... we should get the most out of our memberships now, because king george the 2nd will most certainly be coming after us here.. the women will lose the rights to their vaginas and reproductive organs. gay AND straight couples will be doomed by a new constitutional amendment banning their unions. oil prices will be secure while we will have to take out loans to pay for our insurance. the older generation will die destitute, broke, with no one by their side because their families will be working too hard to try to pay for their funerals. OUR generation will continue to see our social security go out the window. we will have nothing to look forward to after a lifetime of work-and i do mean lifetime because there will be nothing for us to retire on.
we fucked up big time. all of the young voters who should have been out there educating themselves on the issues and ACTUALLY FUCKING VOTING rather than just reciting an empty "vote or die" slogan, have hurt us.... all the poor people who voted for bush, even though he will take their jobs soon, have hurt us... the right wing, born again zealots have done irreparable harm to our country. they took their dislike of gays, women, and minorities out on america. the helped a crooked man run a crooked election and take a death grip on our country.
so, my friends, it is time to prepare. prepare yourselves for 4 more years of encouraged stupidity. 4 more years of a man who shuns things like reading, learning, and getting facts correct. 4 more years of hailiburton inc. running the country and the rich reaping benefits. say goodbye to our free speech. say goodbye to my profession as you know it. say goodbye to your relatives in the service, as they will never end the "war" in iraq now....
it is a very scary time. the only thing that we have to look forward to is this: our kids. they will have to fight for their civil liberties just as they did back in the 60's. it will be cool to watch. but it will be sad. instead of us being know as the generation that changed things, we can only hope now to give birth to the generation that will....
