People kinda make me sick. So for years i used the imaging "Riding the shortbus with Rick the Fluffer", and last Friday into Saturday, for only the 2nd time in the 5-6 years i've been doing radio i took a complaint about the "negativity" towards the mentally handicapped.
This to me is the stupidest arguement i've ever heard, because as i wrote it above, is exactly how it sounds. Just reference to "the shortbus", nothing about the people that ride it and really if anything, it says something negative about the people that listen late at night (in a jokey manner of course) and not about the mentally handicapped, which she didn't want to hear because then the truth came out. Yup. You guessed it. Her kid is mentally handicapped, which doesn't justify her actions AT ALL. Both my sisters of perfectly average metal abilities were taken to school on a shortbus due to the area we lived, secondly, I'm sure there several other reasons why non-mentally handicapped kids ride the shortbus and third, if any mentally handicapped heard my imaging, he/she wouldn't say oh man, he's making fun of me, but actually enjoy the fact that i was saying something about something he/she knew about.
So basically it boiled down to the fact, that this lady had a mentally handicapped kid and was looking for someone to blame and she went after the most non-offensive form, me, when she could have been going after, i don't know, say, Crank yankers "Special Ed", or whatever movie that was, that Johnny Knoxville was in where he pretended to be mentally handicapped, so he could be in the special olympics.
So i'll find out how my bosses conversation went with her yesterday, in like 8 hours or so. Either way i'm not in trouble for it, because I can't get in trouble with the FCC over it. But still gets my blood boiling.
