this one coworker of mine has severe issues. she's one of those dykes that looks so much like a guy that people think she is a guy 90% (and she's really defensive about it, and almost hit a coworker when he teased her about), and she's in one of those phases where she's trying to be straight for once or something.
she also likes to try and be intellectual, and come across as intelligent and cool by saying things like "i don't really watch movies. i'm more of a book worm, i mean, *i* don't sit infront of the tv all day." then, she gets all pissy when you point out that liking movies doesn't necessarily have anything to do with sitting infront of the tv all day, and that she certainly was quoting a lot of movies the week before for someone that isn't a "movie" person. she also said to me during her movie quoting stint that she "doesn't like stupid comedies", like her sense of humor is just far too superior to that of anyone else working there. i'm sorry for liking wayne's world. i'm obviously not as smart as her because i don't only like monty python.
so, today this coworker snapped at me infront of CUSTOMERS, and to me that is completely inappropriate and is NEVER ok. since i think this is a big "no-no", after the customers were out of sight/earshot i said to her "hey, i think we need to talk. i really don't appreciate you snapping at me, especially infront of customers." to this she started arguing with me and yelling, and making up excuses for why she did it... like it is ever ok to do something unprofessional like that.
anyway, 2 other coworkers witnessed it and agree with me that she was out of line. unfortunatly, snappy coworker is kinda buddy with the shift manager, and so the shift manager listened to her side of the story without asking mine and then scolded me. he refused to listen to my side of the story, told me i have no right to be defensive, etc etc. i told him that if he needs proof of what happened, he should go ask the other 2 people that were working, because they know what happened. after he asked them what happened, he slightly listened, but treated me like shit for the rest of the shift.
anyway, tomorrow i'm calling the store manager, because they both reacted unprofessionally and i refuse to be bullied. plus, the shift manager was doing a lot of things wrong tonight, AND i learned today that i got a 100% on this secret shopper customer service thingy. so, these people can EAT ME if they think a) that i'm doing a bad job or don't know what i'm doing just because i'm the newest hire and b) that i'll put up with any shit just because i'm female, tiny, and cute.
