iris chang killed herself a number of weeks ago. she was 38 or 39. she wrote the book "rape of nanking" if you have not read it, you should. it is NOT easy. it is actually horrific. it is about life and how cruel humans can be to one another. it can be dismissed as another wwII story or dismissed as about the japanese. however, those who think the behavior chronicled in that book would not happen again is kidding themselves, many of the same things happened right after the break-up of yogoslavia. with all the hip things to read, listen to and do, one needs to everynoe and then take a detour into the other side of life.
